Yay for Springtime!

Although my favorite season is actually summer, I'm glad that most of the rain is over with for now, and I could look forward to warmer weather and sunny skies to brighten my mood.

Everyone asks me how the wedding planning is going. Well, it's going, and frankly, I don't really care that much. I'd much rather just forgo the wedding and save up money for a house. Yes, I am also insanely jealous when I hear about the incentives for first time buyers, and the nice houses available, but the fact is, my job isn't exactly stable right now, and who knows what's going to happen to the economy in the near future. I'd rather bide my time and see what happens, even though my impatience and love for new toys wrings my guts every time I think of owning my own home.

Actually, the most exciting part of getting married (besides the registry; more on that later...) is the honeymoon. I am absolutely ecstatic about going to Kauai, where I will be immersed in my favorite things: good food, warm weather, hiking, beaches, luxury, quiet, and Jason. Every time I get anxious about work or the wedding, I think of the honeymoon and I feel better. I revel in the thought of how much fun is ahead of us, especially considering where we were staying.

I had to choose between the two best hotels on the island: one on the south shore, which is the resort/beachy area, and the hotel on the north shore, the quiet, lush green area. It was a tough call, because the south shore hotel had amazing grounds and pools and lots to do, whereas the north pretty much only had seclusion and an amazing view to offer. Between Jason and myself, we decided the north shore was what we preferred, and that hiking on the island and playing in the ocean, rivers, and waterfalls would be our "pools".

I think we're going to be well rewarded for our choice, since the hotel we chose was closed last year for a complete remodeling and is opening July 1st. ZOMG! That means, we will be staying at a basically 11-day old resort.... with the best view in like... all of Hawaii.

Exactly why I'm excited:

That is going to be me in a few months!! I love how the pool is right by the ocean... seems a bit redundant and pointless, but I'm not going to complain!

Ironically, there is all that water I'm going to be frittering about in, and I still don't know how to swim... grumble grumble. One more thing to get done before July!

I am very happy. I am ok with my work situation, as it seems I will still have a job (hopefully at Lake, but no one knows what's going on, bleh...), the wedding is like whatever, the honeymoon is completely paid for and planned out to the hour, and... I have a registry full of stuff, and I love presents, and, of course, my fiance is the bestest and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him!! WOOOO Kauai, I mean, marriage. !!!!

I can totally understand where you are coming from with the house situation... I was thisclose to buying a house until I saw now insecure my job is right now. It will hurt to see the house prices slowly go up again.
